GPU Cloud

zCLOUD vs Crusoe: A Crusoe Cloud Alternative Compared on Price, Network and Location Control

zCLOUD and Crusoe are neoclouds, companies built to rent out GPUs for AI work. zCLOUD pools capacity from 40+ providers into one cloud, and Crusoe runs GPUs in data centers it builds itself.

As a Crusoe Cloud alternative, zCLOUD charges less for an NVIDIA H100 GPU billed by the hour: from $3.75 per GPU-hour, against $4.50 on Crusoe's price list.

Crusoe publishes its network design, security certifications and prices for newer NVIDIA GPUs, which lets buyers planning training across many servers check more before a sales call.

The table lines up the published terms, with prices per GPU per hour for an NVIDIA H100 unless a row names a newer NVIDIA GPU, the H200 or the B200.

Where Crusoe and zCLOUD Get Their GPUs

zCLOUD buys GPU time from more than 40 providers through a bid/ask system, in which sellers post prices and zCLOUD fills each order at the best price available at purchase. Its published rates are floors; zCLOUD sets the exact rate when it assigns the GPUs.

Crusoe finds energy sources, builds its own data centers and runs its cloud on that fleet.

Crusoe Alternative Pricing for H100, H200 and B200 GPUs

Compare the three ways to pay for an H100 before comparing totals:

  1. On-demand, paid by the hour: zCLOUD starts at $3.75 per GPU per hour, a floor that zCLOUD confirms when it assigns the GPUs. Crusoe lists $4.50, so zCLOUD's starting rate runs $0.75 below Crusoe's list rate.
  2. Term commitment: zCLOUD reserved capacity starts at $2.79 per GPU per hour for a fixed term. Crusoe quotes reserved capacity through sales, so a buyer needs a quote before comparing it with $2.79.
  3. Interruptible: zCLOUD doesn't list an interruptible option. Crusoe quotes spot capacity through sales; spot instances can be stopped, so they suit jobs that restart from a saved copy.

Crusoe also lists newer NVIDIA GPUs at hourly rates: $5.40 for the H200 and $8.50 for the B200, from NVIDIA's Blackwell generation. zCLOUD sells H200 and Blackwell GPUs on request through sales.

What Does an H100 Job Cost a Month on Crusoe and zCLOUD?

zCLOUD charges $21,600 for eight H100 GPUs over a 720-hour month at its starting hourly rate, and Crusoe charges $25,920, a gap of $4,320. The totals exclude storage and data transfer charges.

zCLOUD hourly$3.75$21,600
Crusoe hourly$4.50$25,920
zCLOUD term commitment$2.79$16,070

zCLOUD's rates are floors, so confirm the assigned rate before launch. Cost-to-completion counts what a job costs to finish, including restarts, idle GPUs and engineering time.

Crusoe's Network, Data Transfer Fees and Cluster Tools

Crusoe connects GPUs over InfiniBand and high-speed Ethernet, networks that link servers so one training job can run across many machines. Its cloud page also states zero egress fees, the charges many clouds add when data leaves their network.

Crusoe runs managed Kubernetes and managed Slurm, two tools that schedule jobs across a GPU cluster. It also replaces failed servers automatically, which keeps a long training run going after a hardware fault.

zCLOUD's public pages don't state a data transfer fee, a network design or the scheduling tools in a reserved cluster, so ask sales for these three in writing.

Data transfer charges on a job that moves large checkpoints, the saved copies of a model during training, can outweigh a $0.75 hourly difference.

Location Control and Data Residency on Crusoe and zCLOUD

Crusoe Edge Zones are dedicated sites that Crusoe builds from modular units and runs for buyers with data residency rules, laws or policies that keep data in a named country. Crusoe says it can set one up in months and shares the available region list through sales.

zCLOUD sends orders that require a location through sales and fills orders without one at the best available price.

Get four commitments in writing before moving regulated data to either provider:

  1. Named location: the country and site for the GPUs, primary storage, backups and disaster-recovery copies.
  2. Residency of operating data: where logs, monitoring data and support tickets are stored and processed, written into the contract alongside the architecture diagram.
  3. Audit rights: who can inspect the site and records, how much notice the provider needs and which audit reports it hands over.
  4. Remedy: what the provider owes, such as service credits or the right to exit early, if data leaves the agreed location.

Crusoe's Uptime, Support and Security Certifications

zCLOUD's on-demand page states a 99.9% uptime target and promises public status updates during incidents.

Crusoe's cloud page describes automatic server swaps and early fault detection. It doesn't state an uptime percentage, so buyers can't compare the two on that number.

Crusoe's own page reports a sub-6-minute average first response from support and a 100% customer satisfaction score held for 12 months.

Crusoe holds ISO 27001, the international standard for running an information security program.

It also holds ISO 42001, a newer standard for how a company manages its AI systems.

Crusoe lists SOC 2 Type I and II reports, independent audits of its security controls. zCLOUD provides attestations and audit documents on request, so ask sales which certifications cover the provider running the GPUs.

Choosing Between Crusoe and zCLOUD by Workload

Match the provider to the job:

  1. H100 jobs without a location requirement: zCLOUD. Its hourly rate starts $0.75 below Crusoe's, and its $2.79 term rate gives a number to budget against before a sales call.
  2. Training across many servers: Crusoe. It publishes its InfiniBand network, its zero egress fees and its managed schedulers, which a run across many servers needs in place before launch.
  3. H200 and B200 work priced online: Crusoe, which publishes hourly rates for both GPUs. zCLOUD quotes these GPUs through sales.
  4. Regulated data tied to a named country: either provider, once it signs the four written commitments above.

The zCLOUD pricing page explains how bid/ask allocation sets each rate, and its sales team quotes H200, Blackwell and location-bound capacity for teams weighing Crusoe alternatives.
